How to Successfully Plan a Wedding.

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

That title is kind of a misconception. There is no such thing as successfully planning a wedding.

Let me explain.

What is your wedding really about? It’s about the two of you. At the end of the day, that’s all that matters. Everything else can fall apart, but as long as you and your partner are walking away hand in hand, then I would call that wedding  successful.

I try to remind my brides of that truth frequently. When they get stressed out on their wedding day, or even if something goes wrong, I just remind them, “At the end of the day, you’ll be married to the love of your life, and that’s all that matters.” Because in reality, that IS all that matters.

However, you still do need to do a little planning . 😉 Here are some tips to help plan a successful wedding that you and your spouse will remember for the rest of your lives:

  1. Talk things over with your partner. Decide together what is most important to you, and go from there. Maybe it’s photography or videography. Maybe it’s the venue, or the food. Whatever it is, decide together. Think of it as one of your first big decisions as a couple!

  1. Don’t be afraid of investing in the heirloom items. When I say heirloom items, I mean photography and videography. I remember when I was growing up, I would always look at my parents’ wedding photos, or watch a VHS tape with their wedding video on it. When it comes to your wedding, at the end of the day, the food will be eaten, the flowers will be dead, and the makeup will be smeared. But photos and video will last forever. Of course you shouldn’t ever skimp on parts of your big day that you care about, but being intentional about spending appropriately and wisely when it comes to things that won’t matter past the day could save you tons of financial and mental stress. Plus, there’s no point in spending thousands of dollars on those things if you don’t have high quality photo and and video to remember them!

  1. Remember that it is YOUR day. I’ve seen so many couples stray from what they want because they wanted to make other people happy. Please don’t take away the joy of getting to do things your way on one of the most important days of your life! This day is yours, and I would hate for you to look back on it and be sad because it didn’t feel like it was your wedding. It is the one day that you get to  be a little selfish 😉

When it comes to your wedding, whatever you decide to do, make it yours, make it great, and love each other forever, and you’ll have the most successful wedding possible.
